For over 30 years, continuing in a long line of dedicated blues performers and recording artists, Stu has performed with his own band and many blues legends. He has appeared across the continent at blues clubs like Buddy Guy's Legends, and the House of Blues. Stu has also appeared in blues and jazz festivals in Montreal, Chicago, Monterey, Mississippi, Winsor, Canada, and Atlanta.
The Washington Post describes Stu as "One tasteful guitarist", Wild Child Butler called him "Damn good", and Buddy Guy wanted to know when he would be back. John Lee Hooker taught Stu the finer points of the "Deep Blues" guitar and Bobo Jenkins crowned him "Guitar Stu". In 1996 Stu was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Motor City Blues Award for his contribution to the music industry.
After 10 years of touring with George "Wild Child" Butler, King of the Swamp Harmonica Players, Stu settled in Carmel, California, where he is performing, teaching, and producing the blues. His work with young students in the community resulted in Stu earning a Paul Harris Fellowship and the honor of being the first JustEnough Mentor. Rock on Stu!
